NTOES are Naive Theories of Everything; the slightly infelicitous expression indicates a plethora of sets of representations (theories) that are naive in the sense that they are not the result of formal tutoring, and are possibly unlearned.
I'd like to launch an informal (and partly bloggy) seminar on NTOES in 2006-2007 at institut Nicod, Paris, with a few loose aims.

1. initial research questions:
-how do we study naive theories?
-what is naive in a naive theory?
-what is the status of a naive theory?
-what are the boundaries of a naive theory?
-what is the content of a naive theory (general vs specific contents?) its structure? is this a theory after all?
-what is the relationship, if any, with non-naive (normative) theories; are there strict naive/non naive counterparts?
-what explains the content of a given theory?

2. an overview of the literature (on naive physics, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, sociology, geometry, topology, probability theory, semantics, etc. -the list is far from exhaustive)

The NTOES blog will be used as a platform for the seminar.
